Raynor, the Empire's top wandmaker, hides as a poor carpenter to guard Ayla, the Grand Princess. Void demons strike — five chantless spells slay their general. At court he wins the Grand Tourney and becomes Grand Commander, until a traitor poisons the realm. Alone against the tide, he awakens a seventh spell and purges the Void in daylight stars.
